Upcoming 300hr & 200hr Teacher Training

The Skanda Yoga 300-Hour Teacher Training program (RYS) will take place from July 26th-Aug 2nd 2026 on the island of Koh Yao Noi, Thailand.


The training consists of four - 75hr sections. This will be section three. It is possible to start at any point. A new section is offered approximately every six months.

Led by the school’s founder, Ken “Anand” von Roenn this advanced training is now open for the first time to students from other yoga schools seeking to complete their RYT-500 certification with Yoga Alliance.

The training focuses on refining teaching skills, with attention on verbal cues and mastering hands-on adjustments. In addition, students will dive deep into anatomy, functional movement theory, yogic philosophy, mythology, and advanced meditation practices. 


All classes will be held at Island Yoga retreat center.

This is a rare opportunity to train with Anand who has 25yrs of teaching experience and has led more than 30 teacher trainings.

Island Yoga 200hr Teacher Training

We have crafted a vinyasa-based multi-style teacher training which integrates teachings from Skanda Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Rocket Vinyasa and restorative  practices, providing a comprehensive approach to movement, alignment, and mindfulness. 

This multi-dimensional teacher training is designed for students who want to become versatile and confident teachers.

Graduates will gain a thorough understanding of the physical, energetic, and philosophical foundations of yoga, equipped to safely guide students and adapt teachings to individual needs. The curriculum blends classical and contemporary approaches, offering both depth and versatility for modern teaching. 



Program overview:

  • Asana practice (60 hours): Developing strength, flexibility, and body awareness through flowing sequences and mindful alignment.
  • Pranayama and breathwork (10 hours): Techniques to enhance vitality, focus, and energetic balance.
  • Meditation and mindfulness (10 hours): Tools to cultivate presence, emotional regulation, and inner clarity.
  • Yoga Philosophy & History (20 hours): Ethics, lineage, and understanding the purpose of yoga practice. 
  • Teaching Methodology (50 hours): Class Planning, Observation, and Practice Teaching.
  • Anatomy & Physiology (25 hours): Understanding the human body for safe and effective teaching.
  • Practicum/Teaching Labs  (25 hours): Hands on teaching experience and feedback.


Daily schedule

Monday to Saturday

6:00-7:00 am: Tai Chi (optional but highly recommended!)

7:30-9:30 am: Asana practice

9:30-10:30 am: Breakfast Buffet

11:00-2:00 pm: Teaching methodology, asana lab, anatomy, philosophy, mythology 

2:00-4:00 pm: Lunch break

4:00-7:00 pm: Restorative/yin yoga, practice teaching

7:00-8:15 pm: Dinner break

8:30-9:00 pm: Meditation, mantra, yoga nidra

Sundays are for resting and recovering!


Recommended day of arrival is 1st or 2nd August.

Day of departure is 31st August

Sept 20th: drive to Valli Malai temple.  Short hike. Yoga practice and photo opportunities.

Sept 21st: visit Sri Mahasiddhar Kodi Thatha and local Murugan temple in Ambur. Yoga practice & IG Yoga.

Sept 22nd: Hike to Paravthamalai Temple. IG Yoga.

Sept 23rd: visit Sri Ramana Maharishi ashram. Yoga practice.

Sept 24th: hike Arunachalam (14km) *not necessary to complete Girivalam Pradakshina

Sept 25th: Sri Muthumalai Murugan Temple Kovil (Salem). IG yoga option.

Sept 26th: Tiruchirappalli; Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple; Rockfort Temple Complex

Sept 27th: Thanjavur; Brihadeeswarar Temple; Maratha Palace Complex

Sept 28th: Mayiladuthurai. Beach day with yoga practice.

Sept 29th: Pondicherry. Explore the city.

Sept 30th: Pondicherry. Auroville.

Oct 1st: Mahabalipuram. Tiger Cave. Yoga practice.

Oct 2nd: Mahabalipuram. Shore Temple; Vedagiriswarar Temple.

Oct 3rd: Morning beach yoga practice. return to Chennai
